報告簡介:
Presented in this talk are the recent activities of Professor Wang’s group in photo(electro)catalysis and photothermal conversion. (1) Photo(electro)catalysis. Two-step anodization method for the morphology control of the hierarchical top-layer/bottom-tube TiO2 nanotube (TiO2 NTs) arrays is introduced. The top porous layer of the hierarchical TiO2 NTs is tuned to have characteristics of photonic crystal, which can be utilized to combine with plasmonic gold (Au) nanocrystals to produce highly efficient visible-light active composite material for water splitting. A strategy to protect cuprous oxide (Cu2O) will also be discussed. (2) Nanomaterial based photothermal conversion. A photothermal, self-floating and self-healing membrane for enhanced solar-driven water desalination will be presented. The membrane is prepared by deposition of light-to-heat conversion materials onto porous stainless steel mesh, followed by a hydrophobic modification. The results confirm that with the membrane floating on water surface, a sharp local temperature gradient is generated on the water surface, leading to significantly increasing water evaporation rate. The membrane autonomously recovers its hydrophobicity once lost. When combined with properly designed heat barrier, the photothermal membrane can achieved 85% light-to-water-evaporation efficiency. Emerging new photothermal materials will also be discussed. A brief introduction to KAUST will also be given at the beginning of the seminar.
報告人簡介
Professor Peng Wang joined King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in September 2009 as a founding faculty member and he is currently an associate professor in Environmental Science and Engineering (EnSE) program at KAUST. He was the EnSE program chair from 2012 to 2017. His research focuses on rational design, synthesis, and application of nanomaterials for clean water production. More specifically, he works on (1) photo-driven processes for clean water production; (2) smart materials for water collection, oil/water separation, oil spill clean-up; and (3) emerging 2D material based membrane for water filtration. Many of Professor Wang’s publications are on the ESI highly cited paper list. More information regarding Professor Peng Wang and his research can be found at https://enl.kaust.edu.sa/.
