Abstract

In this talk, Prof Zhiguo Yuan will outline the research activities at the Advanced Water Management Centre at The University of Queensland. AWMC has a research program covering the entire urban water cycle including drinking water production and distribution, sewer asset management, wastewater treatment, and resource recovery from wastewater including both water recycling and nutrient recovery. The expertise in all these areas is being effectively integrated to enable a whole-of-water-cycle approach to integrated urban water management. Prof Yuan will also explain how the AWMC has effectively integrated fundamental science and applied research to deliver innovative solutions to the industry. 

About the speaker

Prof Zhiguo Yuan is the Deputy Director of the Advanced Water Management Centre at The University of Queensland. He is an internationally leading expert in urban water management. He has to date published ~500 research papers, including 220 peer-reviewed journal papers. His latest publications include one paper in Nature in 2013 and one paper in Science in 2014. His papers have attracted ~5600 citations to date, giving him an h-index of 42. He is the Founder of SeweX, Cloevis and Lodomat, three spin-off companies at the AWMC. He is an Inaugural IWA Fellow. He has won over $30m competitive research funding in the past 15 years.
